Based on famous Jammu & Kashmir sex scandal, Hindi feature film "Miss Anara" has been cleared by the Censor Board. Last month, the J&K high court cleared the movie in which Anara Gupta plays the title role. The movie is set to hit the theatres in June. Film will be released in Hindi, Tamil & in Telgu language.
Anara Gupta, Miss Jammu 2001, hit the headlines in Oct 2004 when a porn CD, allegedly featuring her, was aired on several TV stations. She was arrested in Jammu City and held in custody for about 10 days. She accused well-known cable TV operator Narinder Kohli of raping and luring her into the pornography business. She also described a larger pornography ring, involving several politicians. The detention was later found to have been illegal and three police officers were dismissed. Anara retracted her confession and claimed to have been tortured and coerced by police into making a false confession. She sued for compensation. A Hyderabad forensic lab investigation concluded that the woman in the video was not Anara. However, the Chandigarh lab came to the opposite conclusion.
